North College Block Club President - Jack Hessler Hey - It’s March now (you know – the Month with Spring in it) – so why does it still look like the middle of winter? I know, we must be patient. Spring will get here.

Thanks to Tom Koetsier, Clare Wade, David Messelink, & Don Mackey for planning hosting and the Texas Hold’em party at 60 College. I’m sure Jim Boylan would like to thank them too – because he won the tournament! Thanks also to all who attended and supported the Block Club.

Also thanks to Doug & Diane Thole for hosting a wonderful NCBC Brunch on Sunday Feb 25th. It was the usual casual but elegant event, with the famous Jack Hoppus Bloody Marys, and the never ending Somosa’s. Thanks for a great event! Upcoming Events include the NCBC Theater Night in May.

46 College NE Post-Fire Update.

The NCBC Board has taken some positive actions since the fire in January. We have made contact with many of the former residents, and distributed Meijer Gift cards as a way of showing our support in their time of need. Also, we have set a letter to Grand Rapids Fire Chief John Van Solkema recognizing the Fire Department for their brave dedicated work during that night on our block as well as countless other nights under similar circumstances across the city. We plan on inviting as many firefighters as can attend to our June Annual Membership Meeting to thank them in person.

Lastly, the board is putting together a Renters Insurance information packet for member landlords to inform all neighborhood tenants of the importance of this coverage.
