Last December, a colleague/friend of mine (Marcy) asked me if I was interested in doing a 100 mile bike around Lake Tahoe to raise money for the Leukemia/Lymphoma society. We talked about it and the more I learned about it, the more I became interested. It is a win-win for all of those who participate. Of course I will get to go to Lake Tahoe to see the beauty of the area. But it is no free ride. We will have to train rigorously for several months to prepare for the 100-mile bike around the Lake. However, this is not nearly as tough as the challenge that many youth have to endure in their treatment for cancer. I and two work colleagues (Bridget and Marcy) have decided to take on this unique challenge. We will be proud to represent the Leukemia/Lymphoma society in raising the money necessary to fight this disease.
Although my sister Liane did not die from Cancer, she suffered from Diabetes, another terrible disease, so I will be riding with her in spirit on this journey. I was very proud of her and I am sure she would be very proud of me for participating in this cause. Bridget, my work colleague, lost her precious niece, Liz Jensen, only 17 yrs old, to cancer and will be riding in her memory and honor. Marcy’s son also has a friend whose 6 yr old brother lost the struggle with cancer. There is hope, and our honored hero is Catie Jane who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at 17 months. She has finished two long years of chemotherapy and now is enjoying cheerleading and playing soccer. Each of us has our unique experiences with loss and the suffering due to various illnesses and diseases. We are committed to this cause for the memory of all of those who have endured these diseases and to raise money for research to fight Leukemia/Lymphoma.
We will each need to raise $3,900 each. That is no small task. Every little bit will help to achieve this goal. I am asking for your support. So thank you very much for any contributions!!!!! All contributions are 100% tax deductible and you will receive a receipt for your records. You can mail a check to me at: (Check made out to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society)
