The NCBC Annual meeting was held on June 16th at Jim Boylan and Jack Hoppus’ home at 57 College NE. Thanks to Jim & Jack for another great event!
I would like to share some highlights of the meeting and party. No stuffy board room stuff here, but just a to-the-point meeting so we can we can get to the “party part”.
After my greeting and welcoming of guests, we reviewed the past year events and parties. Thanks to everyone who hosted or helped out at an event in the last 12 months.
I also thanked all the hard work by the 2006-2007 NCBC board members. The 2007-2008 NCBC Board members were announced – the same members as last year. In case you don’t remember, the Board is:
- Jack Hessler – President
- Jack Hoppus – ‘Vice’ President (seems appropriate)
- Laura Martin – Treasurer
- Clare Wade – Secretary
- Mark Dykstra – Member At Large
- Scott Kuderik – Member At Large
- Ken Jones – Alumni Member At Large
If you see a board member – please thank them and give them a ‘hug’.
A special ‘thank you’ was announced for the Website Host, Christene Duthler and Newsletter editor Chris Bailey. Great job by both to keep the communication aspects of our block club alive and well.
Laura Martin presented the NCBC annual financial report. We made profits from Food Booth, 50/50 raffles, membership dues, and newsletter advertising. This year we gave 99% of our profits to local charities – a total of $1,689. Thanks to all members who made this possible.
GRFD Awards - We were honored to have two guests from GRFD - Captain Curt Baragar (who was at the 46 College fire) and Battalion Chief Dan Stoddard. These fire fighters work in harsh and dangerous conditions on a daily basis.
A brief account of the 46 College NE fire was read and then NCBC presented both of them with a commemorative plaque with the engraved message “Thanks for your Dedication” – North College Block Club 2007”. The attending membership then gave them a standing ovation.
Following the meeting, the food & party activity began in earnest. Even a Fire fighter Cake arrived.
Also, the sounds of the Tom Hagen Music group was great as always. We hope to have this much fun at a meeting every year!
