  516 Fountain by Tom Hicks

The house was built in 1910 for and by William Williamson, one of Grand Rapid's prominent architects at that time. Williamson's firm of Williamson, Crowe, and Proctor was responsible for a number of other homes located in Heritage Hill. This particular house is designed in the English Cottage tradition with a stucco painted exterior, decorative bracketing at the entrance and overhangs. Diamond pane leaded glass bay windows can be seen at the rear of the house overlooking the garden.

Williamson lived in the house until 1916. It was then purchased by the Edward Clark family who remained there until 1921. At that time William K. Williams purchased it and lived there for about sixteen years. During the 1920's, rooms were added to the sides of the original structure. In 1937 after the death of Mr. Williams the house was sold to Mrs. Williams' brother, Ralph William Bulkeley and his wife Marion Teal. Mr .Bulkely died shortly thereafter in 1938. Mrs. Marion Teal Bulkely married Paul F. Steketee and they lived here until 1951. Mr. Steketee, was the former president of Keeler Brass and great grandson of the founder of Steketee's Department Store. The house then was purchased by the Charles Miller family and divided into six apartments.

The crown moldings in the living room, bedroom, and entry hall were removed. The tile fireplace was replaced with marble. The orientation of the interior stair case was reversed to accommodate the apartment conversion. The oak paneling in the dining room was removed. The Miller family then sold it to Frederick Olert. He in turn sold it to James Honeycutt who sold it to Beth Reimel. Tom Hicks purchased it in 1995.
