  Central Reformed Church Announces Concert Series - by Jennifer Webb

The Central Reformed Church, located at the corner College Ave. NE and Fulton St. in Heritage Hill is proud to announce the 2006-2007 Barker Concert Series. NCBC members are all welcome to attend. All performances are in the church’s main sanctuary and are free (a donation plate will be passed following each performance).

On December 31 at 9:30pm, (hey, that’s New Year’s Eve) will once again feature a New Year's Eve Organ Concert. Barry Baker, a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and Southern Ohio College, will perform. He has two commercial CD recordings:

For the Very First Time (1995)
A Barry Baker Concert (1999)

On February 11 at 7:30pm will present the Choral Scholars, an eight-person a cappella group comprised of Calvin College alumni. All members of this outstanding group work volunteer in various musical capacities throughout West Michigan as music educators, singers, instrumentalists, and conductors.

On March 11 at 7:30pm, Rich Ridenour, a native of Grand Rapids, will perform with his son, Brandon, for an evening titled Trumpet Invasion. Rich received degrees from the University of Michigan and the Juilliard School of Music and has instructed piano at Aquinas College, Grand Valley State University, Calvin College, and Western Michigan University. Brandon, a trumpet performance major, is in his fourth year of undergraduate study at the Juilliard School of Music. Rich and Brandon recently released Trumpet Invasion, a CD featuring popular piano music arranged for trumpet and piano.
